11-Goal Poacher Mukwala Draws Attention From Europe’s Big 5!

Ugandan international and URA center forward Stephen Dese Mukwala is on the radar of some top European clubs due to his current form with club – side URA.

The 22 year old has banged in 11 goals and currently leads the goal scoring Lane in Uganda, in what is turning out to be a sensational season for him.

It is partly due to the former Vipers SC forward that URA FC is still in the mix for the Ugandan premiership, having registered 38 points in 20 games, five points off leaders Vipers SC.

Sportsglitz.net has learned of interests of the player from mid-table Ligue 1 sides and a couple of second-tier sides in France, and why wouldn’t they be?

Qualities of Mukwala

Henry Ford put it very succinctly, “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right”. Mukwala always  thinks he can score. There’s that confidence every poacher needs.  When he thinks he can’t do it, then, he’d pass up the chance to another open teammate. Either way, he is mostly right.

The ability to control a football, or ‘touch’, is the most important skill Mukwala  possesses. His Control of the ball in a tight situation is often the difference between getting his opportunity to score a goal or not – even having the chance.

Speed is one of several weapons of the ‘go-to-guy’. It is not just his ability to run fast.  Mukwala has what in the games jargon is referred to as;  “Football Speed” which is a combination of the following speed elements: Ability to run fast, explosive speed; the ability to get up to maximum speed quickly.

The speed of feet – the ability to move one’s feet fast during the execution of moves.

The speed of thought – Perception,Decision,Execution (PDE- the ability to quickly perceive the situation and then quickly make a decision and execute it).

Explosive fast Mobility runs – which is a combination of some of the above and an understanding of when and where to make the run.

Mukwala’s shot accuracy is unerring. Journalists in Uganda insist that it is a combination of technique and deliberate practice. The latter’s 30 – 50 shots on goal leads to success.

It remains to be seen who wins the battle to convince the youngster to put pen on paper.

Meantime, the man with 7 caps for the Cranes will be in action on April 3rd against Bright Stars.
