2022 Elite One: ACEC Hold Talks On 24 – Club System Format
By Ngome Michael
Reports reaching this online platform suggests newly elected FECAFOOT President, Samuel Eto’o has been approached by notables of Cameroon’s Elite championships for an increase in number of participants from 21 to 24.
Paired into two groups comprising of eleven and ten clubs last season, the new campaign is said to the same format but with three more clubs to be added in the top tier.
Striking on the statement reportedly from elite football club stakeholders is the return New Stars of Douala, Union of Douala, TKC, YAFOOT and Panthere Sportive of Nde that were relegated last season either through low points or bottom table Play-offs.
New Stars of Douala after spending more than three decades in the Elite One were edged 1-0 by PWD of Bamenda at the closing stages of last season which confirmed them dropping to second Division.
The write-up advocating for these changes also seeks to rivive now amateur West region club, Unisport of Upper Nkam back to the Elite Two.
These proposal have however not yet been authorized by the new FECAFOOT executive but many football pundits foresee lots of chaos if this is given a go ahead.
