2022 MT Cameroon Race: Carine Gets Revenge, Sabinla Outwits Gabsibuin

After having ended runner-up to Kitang Mildred Ntumeku in 2021, Tatah Carine, previous winner in: 2018, 2019, and 2020 did it again by finishing top on the podium in 5 h 30 minutes on occasion of the 27th edition of the Race of Hope.

A familiar sight was spotted yesterday February 19, at the Molyko stadium in Buea, as Carine clinched gold in the ladies’ category and she was closely followed by fierce rival, Kitang Mildred Ntumeku, who settled for second spot.

To complete the pack of winners in the third spot is Tumu Matrina. In the men’s category, the ever energetic Elvis Sabinla crossed the finish line first and entered history alongside greats in the list of winners.

Following Sabinla closely was 5-time winner – Godlove Gabsibuin, who looked for chunks of the race, like he was going to bag his 6th winners medal. Adamou Issa completed the trio.

Meanwhile, last year’s surprise package, Ali Mohamadou, ended 4th.

All winners came from cameroonian roots despite the scare from few internals especially Kenya.

No foreigner was able to grasp a distinction just like in 2021 where Agnès Jepkosgei of Kenyan nationality, occupied the 3rd position.
