8 African Referees Qualify For Qatar 2022

8 African referees will travel to Qatar to officiate at the World Cup which will begin on November 21. Among the eight, are some regular customers to the big time: Bakary Gassama from the Gambia topping the chart.

With the 2022 World Cup which will take place in Qatar from November 21 to December 18 drawing ever so close, FIFA unveiled on Tuesday, April 5, a list of African referees selected to officiate during the jamboree.

Among the men in black, there is Bakary Gassama, aged 43, an international referee since 2007.

Experienced Ethiopian referee Bamlak Tessema, 41 years of age, who has been around since 2009, plus, 42-year-old Zambian Janny Sikazwe. Victor Gomez, Maguette Ndiaye and Jean-Jacques Ndala, Mustapha Ghorbal and
Redouane Jiyed complete the list.

All these officials will participate in a preparation course in Doha next November.
