Jean Pierre Nsame On Target As Young Boys Defeat Grasshopper

With a long-range goal in the 73rd minute, Cédric Zesiger put YB on the road to victory against GC. Jean-Pierre Nsame made it 2-0 shortly to seal all 3 points.

In the sold-out Wankdorf Stadium in front of 31,500 spectators, YB needed patience before the goals fell. It took Raphael Wicky’s side a while to take control of the game against the well-organized Grasshoppers, who traveled to Bern with three straight wins under their belt.

For a long time, a shot by Kastriot Imeri after eight minutes was the Young Boys’ best offensive move. Although the team had some shots towards the GC goal, they were blocked or missed the target.
Shortly before the break, YB came close to scoring the opening goal, but Cedric Itten’s penalty was saved by André Moreira.

The GC keeper was often the center of attention after the break too – he parried several shots by the Yellow and Blacks, including a shot from Fabian Rieder and two from Ulisses Garcia. Zesiger broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute. The central defender dispossessed Sandro Lauper and hammered in from almost 30 meters.

YB attacker Elias pressed higher up the field and nicked the ball off GC defender Noah Loosli, before serving Nsame who was was there to put the ball in the net for 2-0 at the 88th minute.
