FECAFOOT ordered to pay Coq Sportif 7 billion Francs for breach of contract

The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) lost its appeal in Paris against Le Coq Sportif, and as such, will have to pay over 7 billion CFA for abusive breach of contract.

These are indeed dark days for the president of FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o and certainly he had not seen it on hindsight.

The Paris Court of Appeal, in the context of the appeal lodged by FECAFOOT following the makeshift decision of November 3, 2022, ordered the continuation of the Coq Sportif contract until December 31, 2023, which did not sail through.

The Court of Appeal confirmed that the unilateral termination as executed by FECAFOOT constitutes an illicit disorder that should be stopped and instructed the continuation of the contract until its end on December 31, 2023.

The decision of the Court of Appeal was rendered on June 15, 2023. This Friday, FECAFOOT was served with a summon to pay Coq Sportif more than 10 million euros, equivalent to 7 billion CFA francs.
