Hamit’s 6th of the season peck back Dynamo in evenly-matched derby

Dynamo Football Club shared spoils with Union of Douala at the Reunification stadium on game day 9 of the MTN Elite One on Sunday, Nov. 26.

The hotly anticipated clash lived up to the hype but both teams ended on a one-all parity.

Coach Clement Arroga made multiple changes from the regular team the Dynamo fateful are used to seeing.

Goalkeeper Anye Derrick made way for Sombang Edward, while Bawak and Jeff Ngongang were all absent in the backline.

Leonel Ateba, making his return from his two-game stint with the Indomitable Lions was left on the bench.

Union utilised a familiar line up known to the masses, keeping the team unchanged after a one-all draw against AS Fortuna on game day 8.

The game was delicately poised but chances in the first half were at a premium.

The second stanza saw a change in tempo and the deadlock was eventually broken by Dynamo’s skipper, Julien Momassa.

The winger was placed one-v-one with the keeper from a Terence Ngankam through ball, and blasted into the left bottom corner, three minutes after recess.

Union replied almost instantly with 7 minutes separating the equaliser and the game’s opener. Seini Hamit chased down the Dynamo defense and befitted from lack of communication that saw Sombang clash with his defenders – before gliding into an empty net.

Further chances were created but both sides settled for a draw. Dynamo lead group A with 18 points. Union are in a playoffs spot (4th) with 12 points at the end round one.
