By Esther E. Otto

The Secretary General of the Cameroonian Cycling Federation, Louis Bruno Eloumou, led a farewell ceremony on October 22, 2024, at the federal headquarters in Yaoundé on behalf of President Honoré Yossi.

The occasion marked the departure of the Cameroon delegation for the 35th Tour du Faso, scheduled from October 25 to November 3, 2024.

During the ceremony, Eloumou, accompanied by members of the Executive Bureau of the federation, conveyed a message of encouragement from the federation’s president and the nation to the riders and supervisors.

He emphasized the significance of being exemplary representatives of Cameroon in Burkina Faso and outlined three primary objectives for the team: clinching the yellow jersey, winning one or more stages, and enhancing performance in both stage and general classifications.

The aim was to replicate their success at the recent Tour de Côte d’Ivoire and overcome the mixed outcomes at the Chantal BIYA International Cycling Grand Prix 2024.

Symbolically, Eloumou entrusted the flag of the Republic to Clovis Kamzong Abossolo, the captain of the national cycling team, with a charge to defend it alongside his teammates with unwavering dedication.

The ceremony concluded with a handshake and a family photo, marking the end of the brief yet poignant event.

As of now, the national team is in Burkina Faso, gearing up for the race set to commence on October 25 and conclude on November 3.
