I Needed A Change Of Environment – Etta Bawak After Joining Al Merreikh

Thomas Etta Bawak, 27, has penned a one year renewable deal with Sudanese juggernauts – Al Merreikh.

Talking about his newly – signed deal, the right full – back mentioned that he needed a new challenge in his career path.

‘I am very happy after signing with Al Meirek,’ Bawak said, on the mic of sportsglitz.net.

‘I was looking forward to that. I needed a change of environment, plus, a new challenge.

‘Al Merreikh will give me more opportunities and expand my exposure. It is my first time traveling out of Cameroon to play for a team abroad. It is important for me to show that I am the best at what I do’!

Despite his brilliance throughout the years, Bawak had never traveled to play football for another team abroad. The former Intermediate Lions captain played at home for; DAC, New Stars, UMS and Cotonsport of Garoua.

‘I will put efforts to build up my game so I can improve from the Bawak fans knew in Cameroon, to an improved version,’ Bawak told sportsglitz.net.

Al Merrikh first emerged as strong contenders to sign full – back after he did not extend his contract with Cotonsport of Garoua.

Despite reports of the player being in advanced negotiations with Real Tamale, Al Merreikh came in and showed more interest, thus the reason for the players’ decision.

Eta Bawak was a great servant for his erstwhile Cotonsport side, helping them to two League titles in his three year stay at the club, with CAF competitions – intertwined between.

In Bawak’s most recent CAF competition, he reached semis of the CAF Confederation cup this last term, playing in an unorthodox left back position th entire season, under coach Souleymanou Aboubakar.

21 time winners of the Sudan premier league, Al Al-Merrikh will definitely be delighted to have the versatile defender.

Al Merreikh are through to the next round of the CAF champions league after they downed Express United and Zanaco in the first and second round of qualifiers.
