CAF Women’s CL: Mamelodi Downs Queens, FAR Cross’ Rivers On Day 2

After an eventful day one filled with goals – galore, it was the turn of four other teams in group B to take the road in the inaugural edition of the CAF Women’s champions league on Saturday.

In the first game, highly awaited COSAFA representatives – Mamelodi Sundowns women took center stage against Vihiga Queens.

The Masandawana Downs got off to a good start as they leapfrogged Vihiga one – nil.

The goal came in as early as the third minute from Melinda Kagadiete. Other attempts later on in the second half were foiled by Lilian Onyango, who ended up as woman of the match.

The second game was a blockbuster from the build – up as it had to do with two heavyweights; AS FAR against Rivers Angels.

It turned out to be a one – sided affair, as FAR left Rivers for dead with an absolute mauling (3-0) victory at the El Salam stadium in Cairo, Egypt.

Sanaa Mssoudy was the heroine of the day as she bagged a hat – trick to spear FAR to victory. Sanaa started the scoring at the 31st minute, and then added two more at the 74th and 84th minutes to ensure victory for her side.

Sunday November 7th will be taken off as a day for a breather before the action resumes on Monday 8th with two games on the menu in group A.
