Jerômé Onguéne’s Defensive Exploit Earns Him POTM November Nominee

By Ngome Michael

Cameroon International and Red Bull Salzburg defense giant, Jerômé Onguéne has been nominated for Salzburg November player of the month in the Austrian Bundesliga.

It is the first time this season that 23-year-old is short- listed in that capacity, four months into the 2021 campaign.

Despite ending November with an injury, Onguéne has created a perfect defensive match with Maximilian Wöber for Salzburg in both the league and champions league.

With a league goal to his name, the Indomitable Lion’s defender has averaged 86.76 minutes in the Champions League with over 24 ball recoveries made and 11 out 16 clearances completed.

Onguéne has been a nightmare to opponents in aerial duels and is described by his club as an uncompromising and razor-sharp defender.

The former Stuttgart man has a total of six career titles and has been very frequently on Antonio Conciecao’s list of players for the Indomitable Lions.
