Cotonsport Vs. Nouadhibou: We Need Backing – Adamou Saliou

Four days before their crunch – clash against Mauritania representatives – FC Nouadhibou, Cotonsport’s Director for Communications and Marketing, Adamou Saliou, has reiterated the need for fans to back the team in Douala.

Due to the forthcoming AFCON jamboree embedded for January 9, Cotonsport will not be playing at their home patch; the Roumde Adjia stadium in Garoua.

As a result, the team will host its CAF inter-club games at the Reunification Stadium (not chosen to stage games in the AFCON), up until the close of the Africa Cup of Nations in February.

‘We managed to obtain 25 percent of the stadium capacity from CAF.

‘Cotonsport is playing for the country. Getting into the group phase in 90 minutes will permit us to add up 2 points. When we add up two points, it will round up to 10 points in total,’ Adamou stated.

He then went on : ‘We are at the moment at 23 points continentally. We can shake – up some countries amid the 12, used to sending four clubs to the competition.

‘We urge fans in Douala to come in and support us, for FC Nouadhibou to know that they are playing away from home,’ Adamou Saliou ended.

Cotonsport is one of the most feared club’s at home, on the continent. The Garoua – based side oozes confidence when playing on their patch, like the one time ‘Theatre Of Dreams.’

The team lost just three games in CAF competitios – at home last season, on their way to the CAF Confederation Cup semis; one to Unisport Sokode and successive defeats to JS Kabylie and former Cotonsport coach, Denis Lavagne.

A win of any sort on Sunday December 5, will catapult Cotonsport to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, as the away fixture in Mauritania ended nil – all. The game starts at 3 pm local time.
