AFCON 2021: Cote D’Ivoire Camp Dissolves To Tears As Gradel’s Dad PASS

Few hours from flying to Cameroon where the 2022 African Cup of Nations is going to take place from this weekend, Ivorian professional footballer Max Alain Gradel has just learned of the death of his father.

Currently in camp with his teammates of the Cote D’Ivoire Elephants, Max Alain Gradel learned of the unexpected death of his father. “PAPA I told you I am going to the AFCON I arrive …”. He posted on his official page with several crying emojis reflecting his pain.

A hard test for the footballer who also has a heavy task with the Elephants, to try and get their 3rd AFCON in history.

Mr. Hotété Bruno, the biological father of Max Gradel, bowed out, with so far, little known about the cause of this death.

As a reminder, Max Alain Gradel was separated from his father at the age of 9 when he joined his mother in France. The latter’s father was reportedly focused on his studies. But his passion was football. Hence he had a somewhat stormy relationship with his Dad before leaving for France where football opened doors for him.

Coming back as a star on the pitch, he ended up clinging back with his Dad. He settled his differences with his father to whom he offered a new home through. While relations between them were now in good shape, his father has suddenly passes on. Gradel becomes the second Elephant to loose his Dad in the space of 3 months. In November, ‘suspended’ Sylvain Gbohouo lost his Dad.
