AFCON 2021: Carthage Eagles FLY Mauritania Home

Having lost their first match against Mali last Wednesday, Tunisia revived on Sunday with some flamboyant display against Mauritania.

Tunisia clearly dominated and deservedly won the game 4-0, a result which sees off Mauritania out of the tourney.

The Carthage Eagles quickly put themselves in a winning position from the start of the game.

As early as the 4th minute of play, Tunisia opened the scoring through Mathlouthi. The lead was extended four minutes later by Khazri, to take the game to 2 – 0 at the break.

After the pose, the Tunisia continued to put pressure on the Mauritania. The Carthage Eagles will thus succeed in scoring two more goals, with Kazhri completing his double at the 68th minute minute.

The fourth and last of the game came as a result of Jaziri’s 66th minute strike.

With the victory, Tunisia relaunched her race to qualify for the round of 16 of the 2021 African Cup of Nations. Mauritania’s fate in pool F is sealed. They are mathematically eliminated from the competition with two defeats in two matches and 5 goals conceded. Gambia and Mali lead the group with 4 points each.
