Suspense, As Eto’o ‘Dares’ Minister’s Word On Conceiçao’s Future

FECAFOOT boss, Samuel Eto’o Fils has left the Cameroon – football fraternity in suspense, as he’s asked for 72 hours alongside his bureau, to review coach Antonio Conceiçao’s destiny, with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

The future of Conceiçao Da Silva Oliviera, coach of Cameroon, contrary to what all and sundry thought, has not been decided by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education.

The country’s football legend, Samuel Eto’o, had his reservations at the Executive meeting – on Wednesday 16, and alongside his henchmen, demanded a deadline of 72 hours to decide on the future of the Portuguese trainer – Antonio Conceiçao, at the helm of the Indomitable Lions.

The resolution was further expatiated from the press release published by FECAFOOT, which summarizes the decisions taken on Wednesday by the Executive Committee of the federation, in a meeting held in Limbe, a city in the South-West region of Cameroon.

Prior to the meeting, Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, had decided, in a broadcast on national television, that the coach was going to be kept on seat, at least for the next two matches in-coming for the Indomitable Lions against Algeria, in March.

He then explained that the emergency at the moment is to prepare in serenity.

Both parties seem not to be in one piece, as has been the case for years in the management of Cameroon’s national teams and specifically that of football.

The responsibility for the senior men’s selection being the responsibility of the State, is viewed as some as the state, wishing to limit the federation from its basic task of technical supervision.

In fact, the ministers of sport has always inked on contracts of the coaches in order to engage its financial responsibility.

Samuel Eto’o is therefore not the first president to demand this lifting of supervision. Before him, Mohammed Iya claimed that his Executive Council had the means to pay a coach he would choose.
