Basketball Lions: Sacha Giffa Replaces Dingono As Coach

Former French power-forward, Sacha Giffa has replaced Lazare Adingono as head coach of the Cameroon Basketball Senior Men’s selection.

Adingono is reportedly on his way to Angola for his second stint, after, coaching there from May 2012 until September 2020, as trainer Petro Atlético.

Prior to his exit at the helm of the Basketball Lions, Adingono coached the men’s national team at the 2007 and 2009 FIBA Africa Championships. He equally was at the dugouts during the AfroBasket 2021 qualifiers and tournament finals.

Stepping into the shoes of 44 year old Lazare, is Giffa, who has equally been around the game for a while.

The former French baller who is the same age as Lazare (44), has a wealth of experience, having played at top level.

Giffa played for 9 professional franchises, with the latest being ASC Denain in the 2014/15 season.

The man show-named ‘the Shaker’ won bronze in the 2005 European Championship with France.

Giffa most recently worked as coach at Metropolitans 92, a French Professional Basketball side.

Giffa will be expected to better Cameroon’s FIBA AfroBasket 2021 record, as they ended bottom of group D, in Rwanda.
