CAF Confed Cup: Two Spot-Kicks Help Saoura Defeat Leopards

JS Saoura won against the Royal Leopards of Eswatini 2 to 0, in a match played on Sunday evening at the Olympic stadium of 5-July in Algiers, counting for the 2nd day, CAF Confederation cup (group B).

Saoura started on a high note by opening the scoring in the 9th minute of play through Belaid Hamidi, on penalty. The visitors threw all their forces in attack in order to equalise, but the Saoura defense took good care of the backline.

While the Royal Leopards ran behind the equalizer, Saoura managed another break in added time (90 + 2) thanks to Mohamed El-Amine Hammia, still from the spot.

JSS has now redeemed herself by winning its first game, a week after their defeat in Johannesburg against the Orlando Pirates (2-0).

In the other match of group B, Al-Ittihad won a little earlier in the day against Orlando Pirates (3-2), at the Benghazi stadium.

At the end of these results, Orlando Pirates, Al-Ittihad and JS Saoura are joint top with 3 points each, while the Royal Leopards are left with 0 points.

On Matchday 3, scheduled for Sunday February 27, JS Saoura travel to Benghazi to challenge Al-Ittihad while Orlando Pirates travel to Eswatini to take on Royal Leopards.
