The deal was finalized on February 7, 2022, and doctors of Al Hussein SC were marvelled with the latter’s physical fitness and stamina at the medicals conducted, as per reports.

Fresh from a sensational AFCON run with the Flames of Malawi, where he played 3 games, the center – half drew lots of admiration from neutrals. Chaziya missed the opening game due to the Covid, but came back to play against; Zimbabwe, Senegal and Morocco.

Partnering with Dennis Chembezi in the heart of the defense, Chaziya and his partner kept the eventual champions at bay with some text-book defending. The Senegalese forwards that famous afternoon consisted of: Mane, Dialo and Dia, a much dreaded trio.

The lad who has so far had four caps for the senior selection was playing only his debut tourney, and pundits hold that – he can only get better.

Qualities of Lawrence Chaziya

Positioning

The most important characteristic of Chaziya is his awareness and positioning. He seemingly knows where to be at all times, and most at times he ensures that no opposition player has time or space to take a shot at a goal or assist other teammates.

Leadership and Communication

The starlet is constantly organizing his defence and receiving information from the goalkeeper. He is often loud and has a thick skin, which gives him the edge. The ‘noise’ of the crowd and other players requires the centre back to be loud in order to be heard by the rest of the defence and the midfield, which is trademark Lawrence Chaziya. Regardless of his age, if someone makes a silly mistake, they will certainly hear a word or two from the young fellow. In summary, he is not not shy or a quiet player.

Physicality

There is a reason peers and fans refer to Chaziya as ‘The Rock’. As tough as an old leather boot, he is often the enforcer of the team, particularly as a carbon copy of an old, fashioned center half, who isn’t afraid to stick his leg in a tackle.

He often claims the ball at every opportunity with a “though shall not pass” mentality.

Aerial ability

Over 6 foot plus, Al Hussein have picked a lad who Knows how and when to head the ball. Crossing the ball into the box is one of the most common plays for attacking teams. But with Lawrence who has a good aerial ability, he ensures that crosses do not pose a threat. He is particularly important in the last minutes of a game when his team is struggling to save their lead.

Tackling

And the last but not the least attribute of ‘The Rock’, is; tackling.

The EX Civil SC man knows when to commit to a tackle, which is of utmost importance.

He masters when to stand his ground, when to rush to a player and when to actually make a sliding or standing tackle, which is an arsenal to his skills.

The collaboration between Lawrence Chaziya and Al Hussein is set to be a lovely work in progress.

Al Hussein SC are three time winners of the Jordan FA Shield, and one time winners of the Super Cup.

The Jordanian league is set to begin in April, as Al Hussein with their newest recruit – look to claim their first Championship.
