AWCON 2022: Zimbabwe Fall With Arms In Hand, Botswana Make Breakthrough!

That’s it ! Botswana has qualified for the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations which will take place from July 2 to 23, 2022 in Morocco.

Despite the 0-2 defeat obtained in the first by Zimbabwe, Bostwana still went through given their 1-3 victory in the first leg of these qualifiers. After the 1-3 victory in Harare last Friday in the first leg of the 2022 Women’s AFCON qualifiers, the Botswana team played at home against Zimbabwe on Wednesday, losing 2-0, but still went through on the away goal rule.

The Zebras lost 0-2 at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium to the Mighty Warriors. The ladies of coach Gaolethoo Nkutlwisang qualified after the tie ended 3-3.

It is utter disappointment in the camp of the Zimbabweans. Emmaculate Msipa’s goal in the 66th minute and that of Priviledge Mupeti in the 70th minute were not enough to catch up on the first leg. The ladies of coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda however fell, with arms in their hand. Botswana completed the pack of qualified nation in Southern Africa, after Zambia and South Africa.
