AWCON 2022: Tunisia Returns After 14 Years

After 14 long years of waiting, the selection of Tunisia qualified for the Women’s AFCON 2022 after a 7-3 aggregate win over Equatorial Guinea.

Despite the defeat (3-2) in Malabo against the Equatoguineans in the return leg of the second round of playoffs, Tunisia will finally play the AFCON in neighboring Morocco.

Scorer of a hat-trick in the first leg at the Soliman stadium, Mariem Houij again found the net in the 9th minute of play.

Samia Ouni scored Tunisia’s second goal in the 20th minute as they had done enough, despite Equatorial Guinea’s three goals. In the first leg, the Tunisians inflicted a 5-0 win on Equatorial Guinea on February 18. The Federation congratulated the players and coach Landolsi for the work accomplished.

From now on, Mariem Houij and her teammates will be able to savor their qualification while waiting to go to Morocco to take part in the jamboree of African women’s football.
