Wassou Goue Recounts Historic Appearance For Coton Against Mazembe

At just 16 years and 9 months, Goue Patient started in Cotonsport’s 1-0 loss to TP Mazembe in the CAF Confederations Cup, and his appearance made him the youngest ever starter in the history of Cotonsport, in CAF inter-club competitions.

The youngster had earlier made an appearance from the bench on match day one, replacing Daman Abdouraman against Al Masry.

Talking of the great feat, the teenager opined his game maturity as he has always played with players of senior teams.

‘It wasn’t easy for me but due to the encouragements from my elder brothers and coach, I did my best’, Wassou told sportsglitz about his 81 minutes against TP Mazembe.

“I am honored and I have the willingness to play. I have always dreamt of playing with the first team and God has opened me the door.’

Talking about the experience of listening to his name listed amid starters, Wassou maintained that he didn’t blink twice and remained fearless.

“When I heard my name, it didn’t surprise me. I am used to playing with my elders. I wasn’t scared of anything. I had confidence and wanted to just enjoy myself.” the Cameroon U17 International ended.

Going forward, the Cotonsport academy graduate has promised to continue working.

“With the encouragements at Cotonsport, fans can count on me to deliver,’ Goue ended.

Wassou Patient had a stellar last season with the U17 Lions, scoring 5 goals in warm up games. He equally took part in Cotonsport’s U18 Easter Cup tourney, and was led the goals chart with 5 goals that gifted him the golden boot.
