WCQ: CAF Rubbishes Algeria’s Appeal For Change Of Ref. Against Cameroon

The Confederation of African Football’s Referees Committee has bestowed full confidence on Joshua Bondo to officiate the game pitting Cameroon against Algeria in the Qatar WC qualifying knockout phase.

CAF has replied to a query from the Algerian Football Federation challenging the institution’s appointment of Botswana referee Joshua Bondo.

The latter was maintained for the qualifying play-off match between Cameroon and Algeria on March 25, 2022 in Douala.

Initially, the Algerian Football Federation had lodged an appeal to contest the decision of the arbitration committee to appoint the Joshua Bondo for the first leg of the play-off against Cameroon, scheduled for March 25.

Many pundits believed it was just mind games, citing examples of Bakara Gassama and how Egypt had their ‘mind games’ successful, following the same route.
