AFCON 2023 Prelims: Tom Saintfiet Puts Out 23 Scorpions To Face Chad

Scorpions coach, Tom Saintfiet has released a 23 man squad to face Chad in the AFCON 2023 prelims next week.

Despite their fine performance in the 2021 AFCON earlier this year, The Gambia is still, as per FIFA classification, expected to start from low grades in the AFCON qualifiers.

The six cumulative winners of this round will join the 42 best ranked teams in the group stage of the playoffs.

Having failed to see grounds at Ndjamena and Bakau being approved by CAF, Chad and Gambia will have to face each other ‘away from home’, during the preliminaries. The Gambia will log horns against Chad on March 23 at the Ahmadou-Ahidjo Stadium in Yaound (Cameroon).

Chad are already in Cameroon, where they are lining up friendlies against local clubs.

The two selections will meet six days later at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir (Morocco).
