Injuries KILED Us, Says Regragui After France Defeat

Walid Regragui regretted the queue of injuries to his team and poor management at the start of the game that made the Atlas Lions lose their match against France.

Now that the dream is over, Africans have stepped out to say: ‘thank you’ after the Atlas Lions who made the continent of over 1 billion people proud.
There was hardly any football fan who did not enjoy seeing the Moroccan team write history, by becoming the first African nation to reach the last four of a World Cup.

The commitment and collective values of the team has been etched as an exemplary value, with courageous self-sacrifice. The North Africans went above the best FIFA ranked teams. “We had too much problems in the first period”, regretted the Walid Regragui after the match.

“But we also had situations to score. We didn’t. And the second French goal killed us.”

What hurt Morocco was also an avalanche of injured players. “It didn’t help us,” admitted the Atlas Lions coach. “We lost Aguerd in the warm-up, Saiss very early in the match then Mazraoui at half-time. It was probably a bit too much for us.”

The tactical change, with a five-man defense, also disturbed Morocco, who were much more comfortable once they found their bases and rotated to a traditional 4-1-4-1 system.

With 62% possession, the Moroccans proved that they were capable of taking the game to Morocco.

In the game highlights, Morocco put the reigning world champions in trouble. “We gave our best and that does not take anything away from what we have done”, underlined Regragui again.

The Moroccan fans, who had tears in their eyes at the final whistle, quickly turned their emotions into pride as the players knelt in front of their supporters to thank them for the unconditional support given to them.
