CHAN 2022; Senegal Include’s AFCON Winner Alioume Faty In 23-Man Squad

Senegal are basking in glory with her senior men’s national team, and the country will hope that vein of inspiration passes on to the CHAN squad.

Senegal pits Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda and DR Congo in group B of CHAN 2022. A list of 23 players was aired by coach Pape Thiaw to take part in the competition which will take place in Algeria.

There is the presence of goalkeeper Alioune Badara Faty, who was one of the players crowned at the AFCON in Cameroon at the start of 2022 with the Teranga Lions. With 6 players in the list, Génération Foot is the most represented club, ahead of Casa Sport.

There is equally the presence of defender Moussa Sogue, who plays at FC Amitié in the second division of Senegalese Football.

Senegal ended up at the fourth spot in 2009 but they have failed since then with underwhelming performances that followed in 2011. This is Senegal’s third participation in the competition.
