Cotonsport Vs. Sundowns: Rhulani hints on possible team rotation

Coach Rhulani Mokwena has hinted on a possible squad rotation ahead of Downs’ TotalEnergies CAF champions league game on the road to Cotonsport.

There’s a backbone to the Masandawa team that has been on a run of 15 straight wins, but head coach Rhulani said pre-match that there are last minute tests to determine fitness of some key players upfront, and others could be given a chance, of course, without mentioning any names.

“We are coaches and sometimes we like excuses but I’m going to give none. We have a couple of late fitness tests ongoing. We could get to a level where we give opportunities, not because we are forced, but because we have that luxury”.

Rhulani unarguably has one of the finest teams as regards squad depth on the continent, but the likes of; Shalulile and Casius Mailula have helped his course with outstanding displays.

With the roll of the eyeball at the dugout, there’s the presence of Themba Zwane, Lesedi Kapinga Lebohang Maboe who have all not been regulars, but could put in a shift if called upon.

Talking of the impact Peter Shalulile has been having In the squad, Rhulani went on to say how dire the Namibian has been.

“Peter shalulile is important to this squad and it goes beyond the football aspect. However, a group is far more important than some of its parts. We coach incredible human beings and good players,’ coach Rhulani ended.

It is the gaffer’s first experience in Cameroon and the trainer will be looking to make it two wins in a row when Sundowns takes on Cotonsport on Friday on match day 2 of the competition.
