Jean Pierre Nsame becomes Young Boys’ 3rd All-time goal scorer with 118th goal against Lugana

YB and Lugano separate with a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Valenzuela put the visitors ahead in the first half and Cameroonian international Nsame equalised after the break.

From reports, various players in the Young Boys have been battling flu symptoms in the last few days, so Imeri was out for a short time. He was replaced by Rrudhani.

The draw was a fair result. The first half was poor in highlights, YB hardly found any space against the rebellious Luganesi. A curious goal gave the visitors the lead after 38 minutes. Valenzuela finished after a cross from Steffen, but didn’t hit the ball as desired. And yet the ball tumbled into the net, Racioppi and Lustenberger were left behind.

The Young Boys knew how to react after the break and soon equalized. Rrudhani’s great cross found Nsame’s head to equalize. It was Nsame’s 118th goal in the YB jersey, putting him in third place together with Guillaume Hoarau in the all-time YB scorer list – behind Geni Meier (313) and Ernst Wechselberger (151).

The game could have turned to either side in the final stages. Nsame had YB’s winning goal on his feet and was denied by Lugano’s goalie Saipi (89′), and just before the final whistle YB’s goalie Racioppi saved our team a point when he responded brilliantly after a shot by Babic (95′).

YB continues on Saturday, February 25, 2022 at 8:30 p.m. with the away game at FC Zurich.
