CAF CC: Marumo GALLANTLY Walking To The Quarter-Final After Victory Against USM

Marumo Gallants regained the lead in the Group A of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation cup thanks to a 2-0 victory obtained against USM Alger on game day four.

Courtesy the win, the South African representatives have taken a big step towards qualification to the quarter-finals with 9 points, and only just a point needed to seal the deal.

Completely disorganised, USM Algiers provided a poor first period in terms of play-making. Multipplied errors and blunders, punished the Algerians from the first minutes of the game. Following a ball lost by Benkhelifa, Marumo Gallants initiated a quick counter that ended up on the feet of Nku who only had to place the leather in the back of the net in front of a passive defense at the 7th minute.

The Algerians were unable to react or find solutions in front of a fairly compact South African team which ended the first period with the lead.

The start of the second stanza was a carbon copy of the first. The South African representatives succeed in doubling the advantage after a blunder from Benbot and Loucif. Koapeng took advantage of what was described by many as a “rookie” error to score the second goal, thus sealing the fate of the game.
