Tragic news has emerged from China, where Gabonese international Aaron Boupendza has passed away after falling from the 11th floor of an apartment building in Zhejiang.
The 28-year-old striker, who recently joined Zhejiang FC and was in good form with four goals in six matches, reportedly missed a training session, prompting concern from the club. A friend of the player then confirmed the devastating news.
The local authorities have opened an investigation to determine whether the fall was the result of a tragic accident or a case of suicide. At this stage, no official cause has been confirmed.
Boupendza had an extensive career, beginning in his native Gabon before moving to Europe, where he played for clubs including Bordeaux, Ajaccio, Pau, Rapid Bucharest, and Hatayspor. He later moved to FC Cincinnati in MLS before joining the Chinese Super League.
For his country, Boupendza earned 35 caps and scored eight goals with the Gabon national team.
