Aboubakar’s Al Nassr Bundled Out Of The King Cup By Ighalo’s Al Hilal

Vincent Aboubakar and his peers have been bundled out of the quarter finals of the Saudi King Cup of Champions, after their 2-1 defeat to Al Hilal.

After narrowly defeating Ettifaq (1-0) in the round of 16, Al Nassr met their end against rivals Al Hilal, who beat them on Monday at the quarter finals (2-1), despite Aboubakar’s assist.

Prior to the game, Al Hilal had already got the better of Al Nassr the last time these two met in October.

It was on the occasion of the AFC champions league, and Hilal won 2-1 against 10 man Al Nassr.

Same old result obtained in the quarter finals of the King Cup of Champions, at the King Saud University Stadium.

The former Besiktas-connection came good for Hilal as Vincent Aboubakar set up Talisca for the game’s curtain raiser at the 17th minute. The assist was Aboubakar’s 5th in all competitions, coupled with 8 goals. Al Hilal however crawled their way back to contest with EX Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo, getting a 62nd minute equaliser.

Al Hilal then came from behind to turn the game’s complexion at the 80th minute as Salem Al-Dawsari’s finish gifted them the lead and eventual victory.

It turned out to be a real frustrating outing for Aboubakar, 30, as it was a chance of getting silverware for his Al Nassr side. The AFCON lead scorer and teammates would not have to drop their heads for long, as they welcome 6th placed Abha in the weekend, for match day 22 of the Saudi Pro League.
