Aboubakar Carries AFCON Form To Al Nassr

Lead scorer of the 2021 TotalEnergies AFCON, Vincent Aboubakar, has registered yet another goal, this time, for club side – Al Nassr

The Indomitable Lions skipper hit the net in Al Nassr’s away game to Al-Batin on her advanced match day 21, in the Saudi Pro League.

It only needed some magic from the AFCON 8-goal hero to open scoring as early as the 4th minute, for the visitors.

Midfeilder, Abdulmajeed Al-Sulaiheem further extended Nassr’s lead to 2-0 (24) before Abreu halved the deficit for home side – Al Batin, through the penalty spot.

After the pose, second half substitute Sultan Al-Ghanam increased the scoring tally of Aboubakar and co, to 3-1. However, it looked far from over as Abreu won his second penalty and converted from the spot, to bring the game back to within one.

Incredible scenes then sparked at the Al-Batin stadium, as Saudi professional Al Sudani
Saudi, made it three – all.

Prolly due to over enthusiasm and celebration before the final whistle, Al-Batin gave away their hard fought draw, conceding at the very last minute. Nicolás Martínez scored a penalty (90+1) to gift the away side all three points.

Aboubakar, 30, played the entire duration of 90 minutes and looked really fresh despite coming back from an intensed AFCON tourney, where he led his team to bronze.

The goal was Aboubakar’s sixth in the Saudi Pro League, and the victory sends Al Nassr to second place with 41 points.
