Adel Amrouche announce Tanzania’s AFCON squad

Tanzania is preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations with a squad of 25 players announced by coach Adel Amrouche. Of the 55 initial players preselected, the Tanzanians will see a reduced team for the flagship event on the continent, with the start scheduled for January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Ivory Coast.

The revealed list reserved a major surprise with the omission of Mbwana Samatta, the PAOK Salonika striker, and emblematic figure of Tanzanian football. A choice which raises questions as Tanzania approaches its third participation in the continental competition, now awaiting its performances in a competitive Group F.

The Tanzanian national team, which includes players playing in different positions, will have the difficult task of representing the country alongside strong nations such as Morocco, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Among the players called up are three goalkeepers, a strong group of defenders, hard-working midfielders and promising attackers, ready to challenge their opponents on the African stage.
