AFCON 2021: Chiquinho Conde’s Mozambique upbeat ahead of Black Stars clash

Mozambique head coach, Chiquinho Conde has acknowledged Black Stars quality ahead of the crucial 2023 Africa Cup of Nations encounter.

The Black Stars face Mozambique in a must-win encounter on Monday after failing to record a win in their first two games. Ghana lost 2-1 to Cape Verde in the opening game before playing out a 2-2 draw with Egypt.

However, Conde, during the pre-match press conference, disclosed his outfit will frustrate the Black Stars in the crucial game.

“We are going to provoke the Ghana team. we know they have quality but they don’t have peace of mind” he said.

The Black Stars need a victory against the Mambas to progress to the next round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire likewise Mozambique, who will also sail through with a win in Monday’s match.

Cape Verde have already won the group after back-to-back wins over Ghana and Mozambique. Egypt are second with two points while Ghana and Mozambique have a point apiece.

Talking about Ghana’s go-to-guy Mohamed Kudus, Conde praised his ability but reiterated that it will need a collective effort, rather than individual brilliance to beat his team.

“He is a great player and it is a pleasure to watch him play but this is a team game.

“If he plays alone he will not be able to win the game, so they need to play like a team. We have assessed the Ghana team and we know their strengths and weaknesses, we know they like to play more individually”. Conde concluded.
