AFCON 2021 – Olembe Stadium: COCAN Sets Delivery Date

The much talked about Olembe Stadium is now ready to host the AFCON 2021 opening match, after completion, and an official delivery date – set by COCAN President, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.

The infrastructure will be delivered today Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Since the stringent ultimatum of the CAF SG, various sites of Olembe Stadium advanced exponentially.

The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, returning from his trip to Cairo, went to the site to check on the progress of the work, late last week. He was rather optimistic and reassuring.

Read a press release aired by the COCAN on Monday;

‘The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, President of COCAN 2021 has the honor to inform the public that, in his capacity as the project manager of the construction site of the Olembe Sports complex, he will preside over the launching of technical revenues operations of the said construction site on Tuesday, November 30th 2021 at 11: 00 am ahead of the official reception of the main stadium and its annexes.

‘The official Ceremony to take ownership of this infrastructure will take place on Friday, December 3rd 2021 as from 11 am.’ Cameroon will open the competition against Burkina Faso on January 9 at the Olembe Stadium.
