AFCON 2021: Zimbabwe To Do Without Marvelous Nakamba

By Ngome Michael

Zimbabwe will head to Cameroon for a third consecutive appearance in the African Cup of Nations finals without talisman Marvelous Nakamba.

The 27 year-old midfieder has sustained a knee injury which risks him being sidelined for the rest of 2021/22 season while on duty with Premier League club, Aston Villa.

Nakamba featured for the Warriors in Egypt 2019 where they failed to make it pass the group stages with defeats from host nation and DRC.

Zimbabwe fall in tricky tight group B pairing that will see then lockhorns with the last edition’s runner up, Senegal, the Sylli Nationale and the flames of Malawi.

Interim coach, Norman Mapeza will have to deal without Nakamba and recently retired Khama Billiat as the Warriors hope to go further than the group stages since debut in 2004.
