AFCON 2023: Aboubakar, Njie Clinton fit for Nigeria clash
Cameroon’s go-to-guy Vincent Aboubakar and wide-man Njie Clinton are fit to face Nigeria in the AFCON 2023 round of 16 clash on Saturday
The two players are available to start or come off the bench in the next game.
Information on the fitness of the duo was made official by the team’s media officer after training in Bouaké.
Shortly after Cameroon’s epic victory against Gambia on game day 3 of Group C, the Indomitable Lions quickly resumed training, with an uphill task forthcoming.
Team regulars worked in the gym, while unutilized players against the Gambia had a methodical training session.
In the collective training, there was a sight of Vincent Aboubakar and Clinton Njie.
Vincent Aboubakar, who was previously injured in training in Yamoussoukro, has made a remarkable return after ten days of unavailability.
The captain of the Indomitable Lions showed enormous efforts to get back on his feet, suggesting his impatience to help his team in the next clash against Nigeria on Saturday, January 27, at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium.
In view of this decisive match, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will take off for Abidjan at 12 noon this Thursday, January 25.
Aboubakar is Cameroon’s most potent goal scorer in the current squad with 37 goals in 97 appearances.
Njie Clinton meanwhile has scored 10 goals in 43 appearances, including a goal against Nigeria at this stage (round 16) in 2019.
