AFCON 2023: Amir Abdou unveil Mauritania’s list of 27
Mauritania head coach Amir Abdou has announced his final 27-man list for the impending 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cote d’Ivoire next month.
Abdou revealed his squad for Africa’s premier football tournament on Monday at the Mauritania Football Federation stadium in the presence of the media.
The Mourabitounes are back at the biggest stage of African football after missing out in the last edition hosted by Cameroon. They made their debut appearance in 2019 in Egypt.
However, the head coach Abdou is making his second successive appearance, having guided Comoros to their maiden participation in Cameroon last year.
Mauritania will travel to Tunisia to continue their preparations and fine-tune the team before flying to Cote d’Ivoire for the tournament. They will play against Tunisia on January 6 in a final test match.
The Mourabitounes in their bid to make an impact at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will face Algeria, Burkina Faso, and Angola in Group D.
Mohamed Dellah Yali, Aly Abeid, Sidi Ahmed El Abd, Hemeya Tanjy, Souleymane Anne, Babacar Diop and Babacar Niasse made the final list of squad when Mauritania made their Africa Cup of Nations debut in Egypt four years ago.
