AFCON 2023 Q: Gasset calls up 25 without Zaha for games against Lesotho & Mali

The list of Côte d’Ivoire for the September regrouping was unveiled on Tuesday by coach Jean-Louis Gasset.

Côte d’Ivoire face Lesotho (September 9) at the Laurent Pokou stadium in San Pedro, as part of the 6th day of the AFCON qualifiers. Three days later, a friendly match will be played against Mali (September 12) at the Alassane Ouattara stadium in Ebimpé.

For these two meetings, the coach called 25 players. Several stars are present in this group, but, without Wilfred Zaha who completed a move from Crystal palace to Galatasaray in the off-season.

After announcing his availability to return to the selection, Seko Fofana is absent once again, but this time, due to an injury contracted in his new club in Saudi Arabia, as explained by Jean-Louis Gasset in his press conference.

Automatically qualified for AFCON 2023 at home, the Ivorian selection wants to prep well in view of this continental meeting.
