AFCON 2023 Q: Nsue’s spot-kick sends Equatorial Guinea to Cote D’Ivoire

Equatorial Guinea will be present in the upcoming tournament TotalEnergies 2023 AFCON set to bring together an entire continent next January, in Cote D’Ivoire.

Striker Emilio Nsue scored the winning goal for the hosts five minutes before the final whistle from the penalty spot, as they edged the Carthage Eagles.

Equatorial Guinea now lead their qualifiers Group J with 12 points, while Tunisia, who had already qualified for the finals, qualify as runners-up with 10 points.

With only one game remaining, Libya and Botswana are third and fourth in Group J with three and one point respectively.

In the 2021 AFCON, the Nzalang Nacional stared in the last AFCON finals in Cameroon where they made the quarter-final and only lost to eventual winners, Senegal.
