AFCON 2023 Q: Togo bound to end third despite win over Eswatini
On the road on Sunday, June 18, 2023 as part of the fifth day of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers, Togo emerged 2-0 winners over Eswatini.
Fourteen minutes were enough for the proteges of Portuguese technician Paulo Duarté to open the scoring.
On a lightening quick Togolese offensive, Kévin Denkey deceived the Eswatini goalkeeper and opened the scoring with an excellent shot with his instep.
Utterly dominant, the valiant sparrowhawks ended up adding to the one-nil cushion upon return from the locker room. On a brilliant pass from Ihlas Bebou, Placca Fessou managed to score with a header in the final moments of the match.
Thanks to the victory, Togo is likely to end third place in Group B.
This, after Cape Verde harvested a good result against the Burkinabe.
