AFCON 2023: Seri out to right wrongs with Cote D’Ivoire against Senegal

Jean Michael Seri accompanied Emerse Fae this Sunday at the Senegal – Cote D’Ivoire pre-match press conference.

Seri indicated that the Elephants will try to correct the mistakes made during the group stage in the round of 16 of the AFCON.

Cote D’Ivoire qualified for the round of 16 of AFCON 2023 thanks to Morocco’s victory against Zambia (1-0).

However, the round 16 qualifications isn’t a gift as the next opponents are defending champions, Senegal.

The erstwhile Nice midfeilder explained that the team will try to implement the game plan of interim coach, Emerse Fae in order to succeed against Senegal.

“I’m not here to talk about what went wrong previously, but we have to move forward. Because it’s a new competition and we have to focus on what we need to improve. We are keen to give everything for our coach (Emerse) who is like a big brother to us. Yes, the defeat against Equatorial Guinea really hurt. We focused on ourselves after that and we will apply our coach’s game plan,” declared Jean Michael Seri in a pre-match press conference.

Asked about the interim coach, Jean Michael Seri declared: “Emerse is someone who sticks a lot to discipline. We have known each other since his arrival in the team. He is instilling in us his values, how to be disciplined on a football field. That’s what we’re focusing on and we’ll arrive ready tomorrow, God willing.” Seri ended.

Jean Michael Seri has not started any games so far, but he could get his first start against Senegal on Monday.
