AFCON 2023: Tanzania fire BIG MOUTH Adel following derogatory remarks on Morocco
Adel Amrouche has been kicked out of the Taifa Stars camp as an aftermath of derogatory remarks made against Morocco ahead of the 2023 TotalEnergies AFCON, Cote D’Ivoire.
The Former Harambee Stars tactician was fired after they lost just one match at the ongoing Continental showpiece.
In a statement released by the Tanzania Football Federation on Friday, Amrouche was sacked immediately while in Ivory Coast and appointed Hemed Suleiman as the interim coach.
The Tanzania Football Federation said it was forced to relieve off the Algerian born tactician after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned him for eight matches after a complain filed by the Morocco Football Federation.
The Morocco Football Federation complained that Amrouche made remarks insinuating that Morocco has influence in CAF and can collaborate with referees to influence decisions.
“Following the CAF decision to ban Amrouche, the Tanzania Football Federation has fired Adel Amrouche as the head coach and appointed Hemed Morocco as the acting coach,” the Tanzania Football Federation announced.
Taifa Stars of Tanzania lost 3-0 in their opening group F match against Morocco.
