AFCON U20: Zambia Draw Debutants Benin

Benin made its debut in the TotalEnergies Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations currently played in Egypt on Tuesday, February 21, in a game that ended with a draw against Zambia.

After a hotly contested match, the young Cheetahs of Benin and their counterparts from Zambia drew one-all.

Benin overall dominated the game especially in the first period with several clear chances, without materializing. 0-0 is the score at the break.

The second period began with Benin still controlling proceedings and they eventually took the lead. R. Aloko gave Benin the advantage from a corner in the 57th minute.

However, the lead was short-lived following a howler by Beninese goalkeeper David Agossa, which led Zambia to level terms ( 1-1) through Rickson N’gambie on the hour mark.

No further goals were scored until the end of the match and the two teams shared the spoils in the first meeting.
