AFCON U23: Guinea eliminates Congo after 3-1 win
Defeated by Morocco in their first AFCON U23 game, Guinea has recovered. On Tuesday, they made up for it by beating Congo in their second outing in Group A.
Determined to win the game, Guinea opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Aguibou Camara. But shortly before half-time mark, Congo equalized through Yann Ngatse. 1-1, score at the pose.
Back from the locker room, the Guineans regained the advantage with an own goal by Jacques Bowamba in the 54th minute. Led in the game, Congo sank a little more with the expulsion of Dhody Foutou in the 72nd minute.
Guinea further took stands on the numerical superiority by scoring a third goal in the 84th minute, courtesy of Salifou Soumah.
This victory therefore revives Guinea which takes its first three points in group A. As for Congo, they’re eliminated with the second defeat suffered after that against Ghana.
