AFCON U23 Q: New Damning Evidence Against Gabon’s Djave As Teammate Confirms ‘He Cheated’

Sportglizt.com on a fact finding mission after the uproar surrounding Gabon’s Floriss Djave, on suspected age fraud, reached out to the later’s parent club, EN Paralimniou for answers.

For starters, Gabon’s U23 men’s team defeated Cameroon 7-6 on penalties after a one-all stalemate in the third and final round of the qualifiers which saw the Panthers through to the TotalEnergies U23 Africa Cup of Nations billed for Morocco.

One player who started and stared in both legs was left winger, Floriss Djave. The forward kept Meyapya and Keller on their toes in the first game in Franceville, and struck fear in the defensive combo of Keller and Keben in the reversed fixture.

Hours after the game, online platform CFOOT provided a transfermarket information which shows Djave already turned 25.

Most media handles latched on the information, which could be a case of double identity, cognizance of another profile which shows Djave was born on July 29, 2003, which makes him 19, curiously.

In an exchange with a teammate at EN Paralimniou – who wanted to stay anonymous, further details were milked by sportglizt.com.

“I know this guy called Djave. He is on loan to Aris. It is 💯 percent fraud. If he didn’t use his identity, it meant the game was a mess, and should be recalled. I can tell you he is 25, and 25-year-old’s shouldn’t be playing a competition meant for those below 23. It is like playing a professional against U19s,” Djave’s teammate ended.

The Cameroon FA is yet to officially communicate on the case.

If eventually the file is launched with the player found guilty, the Confederation of African football (CAF), upon an appeal by FECAFOOT, could heavily fine Djave alongside the Gabonese Football Federation, with an impending ban at that category, lurking.
