Algeria whitewash Cape Verde 5-1 in friendly
Algeria on Thursday evening secured a convincing victory with a 5-1 score in a friendly match was held at the Chahid-Hamlaoui stadium in Constantine province, situated 390 km east of Algiers.
Algeria’s goals were scored by Amoura (12′), Aouar (39′ and 41′), Zerrouki (61′), and Slimani (89′) through a penalty kick.
Cape Verde managed to score once, with Bebe finding the net in the 55th minute.
The Fennecs, as Algeria’s team is known, are set to face Egypt in a friendly match next Monday at the Hazza bin Zayed stadium in Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates.
These friendly matches are vital for Algeria’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the final phase of the CAN-2023 African Cup of Nations (postponed to 2024), scheduled from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Cote d’Ivoire.
Following the draw held on Thursday evening in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, the Algerian team has been placed in Group D for the CAN-2023, alongside Burkina Faso, Mauritania, and Angola
