Amir Abdou Replaces Da Rosa As Mauritania Coach

A week after leaving his position as coach of the Comoros, which he had held since 2014, Amir Abdou has officially been appointed coach of Mauritania, as gotten the Mauritanian Federation on Wednesday.

‘Following consultations and exchanges with the highest authorities of the State, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports and Relations with Parliament, the Executive Committee of the FFRIM has taken the following restructuring measures : Put an end to the functions of the national coach, Mr. Didier Gomes Da Rosa and all of his technical staff;

‘Appointment of Mr. Amir Abdou as national coach and new technical staff for the Senior and local intermediate teams of Mauritania”, a press release read.

Appointed last November, French coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa didn’t register a single point at the AFCON which followed after the poor outing in the first round of the Arab Cup.

As expected, it is therefore Abdou, who masterminded Comoros’ football growth in recent years, including a historic qualification for the AFCON and a journey to the round of 16.

In addition to his qualities, the 49-year-old technician has a mastery of the country and her club-sides since he has been coach of FC Nouadhibou from November 2020 till date.

His first mission will be to qualify the Mauritania for CHAN and AFCON 2023.
