AWCON 2022 Q: Zabo Calls Up 23 Lionesses To Camp Without Melvis And Mbengono

Indomitable Lionesses coach Gabriel Zabo has unleased a list of 23 Lionesses to enter camp from Oct. 4 -18 without some noticeable names with wonderful performances, including Tantoh melvis and Catherine Mbengono.

Tantoh Melvis was the piece of good fortune needed for AWA FF to be crowned Champions this season in the Guiness Super League, with 7 goals and four assists popping up from the midfeild.

Melvis was pre selected for the Aisha Buhari Cup that held in Nigeria last month but didn’t make Zabo’s final list.

The 27 year old is however on queue and could be handed the best player in the Guiness Super League Awards that comes up on the 13th of this month, as she has been nominated in the category of player of the season.

Just like Melvis Tantoh, Catherine Mbengono was unerring for her team in only her debut season in Kazakhstan.

Mbengono left Cameroon mid – may with an enviable record of 10 goals from 11 games.

Mbengono thrived at FC OQZHETPES and ended the season with 6 goals and 9 assists in all competitions, including making her debut in the Women’s Champions League.

It remains to be seen if the coach reverses his decision to call up these two to his side in view of the Central African Republic game on Oct. 20 and 24, in Douala and Yaounde respectively.
