Bafana Bafana’s Williams emerge AFCON golden glove winner

DSTV Premiership goalkeeping has hit continental levels through Sundowns shotstopper, Ronwen Williams whose heroics with Bafana Bafana led South Africa to a third place finish at the 2023 Cup of Nations in Côte D’Ivoire.

South Africa’s steady progress from Group E is owing partly to Ronwen’s calmness in between the sticks.

Troost Ekong semi final converted spotkick was only the second his net got breached since conceding two goals against Mali in the opening game.

Williams stood against Morocco in round of 16 setting a record himself in the quarter-final against Cape Verde with four penalties saves adding two against DR Congo in the classification it is the furthest South Africa has gone at the AFCON since 2000.
