BAL Season 5: Al Ahli Tripoli and APR BBC hit century on day two, perfect start for both teams.

Al Ahli Tripoli eased to a 115-87 win against Nairobi City Thunder. Setting a new record at the tournament: highest-scoring game in BAL history. Perfect debut for BAL new boys, 2 wins from 2 games at the Nile Conference in Kigali: “Every game we get better, and this victory today is very important because we played very good basketball except for the last four minutes,” Fouad Abou Chacra, head coach Al Ahli Tripoli.

Jean Jacques Boissy shines again for Al Ahli. A game-high 30 points (including 18 from behind the arc) against Nairobi City Thunder takes his tally to 58 points overall. Jaylen Adams equally rights his game for Al Ahli on day two: 26 points, 8 assits and 3 steals.

Backed by home fans, APR BBC records back-to-back wins. They beat MBB of South Africa 103-81. While fans pushed from the stands, on the count APR BBC could count on dominant performance of Youssoupha Ndoye (25 points & 9 rebounds) and Aliou Diarra (22 points and 14 rebounds). Axel Olenga MPOYO equally pushed with 12 points. South Africa’s MBB, yet to win but take positives from performances like:
Teadale Lenard Jr (20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists), Jovan Mooring (17 points and 6 assists).

The Nile Conference returns on Tuesday May 20, 2025: MBB takes on Nairobi City Thunder at 4 p.m. CAT, while APR faces Al Ahli at 7 p.m. CAT.

The top two teams from the Nile Conference and the best third place team between Kalahari Conference’s FUS Rabat (Morocco) and the third place team in the Nile Conference will advance to the BAL Playoffs and Finals which will take place at SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa from June 6-14 (tickets available on Ticketmaster.co.za).
